SO probably one of the most whack weeks here on the Mish. We set a new record for the most lessons to not happen.... We had 12 lessons fall through in 5 days. WHY ARE RUSSIANS SO FLAKY. But I guess it's okay because I still love them and have the gift of charity and whatnot. (legit these people are great though)
Because all of our investigators decided to do other things this week we didn't have much happen. We had a couple of english classes, did a bunch of contacting, and had some lessons with some recent converts here. Our investigator Alex, with the baptismal date, left to Romania this week so we're praying for him to find the Romanian Elders and to continue to meet with him. We gave him all of the information of the church in Romania to him and so we're hoping things will work out. We still feel like our other investigator Alexei isn't quite ready for baptism so we're going to continue to work with him to really be prepared. Important note: you cannot gain a testimony if you're not doing anything to build it. <----- this is key
I guess I'll move on straight to the interesting stuff this week
-WE GOT IN AN ACCIDENT ON A TROLLEYBUS FINALLY. Check that one off of my bucketlist (also everything is fine, no one is hurt)
-Today is my boi Sergio's birthday. I don't know if I've told you all about him but he's this sick guy from Ecuador and he's just chilling here until he can go back to Spain and he's the funniest guy ever. He will literally talk to you about the most random stuff ever. This week it was about shrunken heads, retail prices in Kito, tribes in the amazon and which countries give them citizenship and how they fight, oxygen masks for soccer players that play in heights, and some other stuff. He's seriously the best. He had a baptismal date but he's got some bad problems with family and stuff so he can't but he has a huge desire to be baptized.
-In 3 days is my boi elder dumbrells bday (shouts out)
-We still play soccer every p-day morning even though it's -9. (celcius but still). I had the save of my life as goalie today. (I can't play with my feet bc there is no coordination there)
-We met this super cool old couple last night. So I showed them the book of mormon and they saw Jesus (Иисус) and so they immediately let us in. So we walk in and then the lady mentions that the guy is a baptist preacher. At this point we were all like 'oh no we're about to get bible bashed out of our minds.' But turns out they were super chill and wanted to find out more about our church. They're both from ukraine and they have a daughter living in Washington and a son in Dubai and they also really want to learn English. We're hoping to meet with them again this week.
-I have been completely obsessed with church history these past few weeks. I picked up a fat textbook from the church and normally I would think it's super boring but I seriously can't get enough of it. I spend pretty much all of my time at home just reading about the church and it's my favorite thing ever.
So my spiritual thought this week is-yup you guessed it- church history. I can say without a doubt that I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he restored the Church of Jesus Christ back on the earth today. I'm not just saying this because I read a lot about it and I'm not saying this because I have to as a missionary. I know that Joseph Smith and none of the leaders of the church have been perfect but I know that they are men who have been called of God to lead the Church. I'm grateful for their sacrifices and for their efforts that they gave to lead me to where I am today. Love you all!
