So yeah hey everybody I hope that everyone is doing great just wanted to check in and tell you all that I don't know why cooking is so difficult.
Cooking story #1 (i'm not sure if I already told this story or not)- so we thought we would eat at home one day this week (mistake) and we thought we could make some mashed potatoes (mistake) and so we through the potatoes in the boiling water and then waited for like 45 minutes and then we realized that they were not even close to being done and we were like shoot we have to go so we cut up the potaoes and threw them on the pan but then we ended up burning them so we had some charred crispy potatoes (yum).
Cooking story #2- so we were supposed to make cookies for games night and so we thought we had all of the ingredients but turns out we didn't so we go to the store just to find out that yes we actually did have all of the ingredients that we needed. So we start making the dough and then we realise that we have no idea how to work the oven so after hitting every button possible we call the landlord and we're pretty sure the oven doesn't work but then she sends her son over to the apartment and he hits one button and teh oven just turns on suddenly and we look like a bunch of dummeis. So then I'm stirring the dough with the hand mixer when- suddenly a flash of light- and the hand mixer now has smoke coming out. So after I blew up the hand mixer we continued to finish the cookies (we forgot to add the chocolate chips) and then the cookies were finally done... And they ended up being decent. like 6/10. ........
But other than at things here have been pretty great! We're putting in work and we had an amazing Plan of Salvation lesson with our investigators yesterday. At first we were bummed because they cancelled the lesson on Saturday but then they said that we could meet Sunday so we had a good lesson with them. We gave them a soft baptismal invitation and they said that if they know that it's true then they'll be baptized! So we're praying super hard for them.
I had a really cool experience with exchanges that happened this last tuesday and some miracles that are already happening on Facebook. I already typed it up this week so I'll just paste it here vvv
Elder Volkov contacted a woman who had liked the Facebook page and she was very interested about what we believed in from the beginning. She stated that she lived in a village called Drochia about a 20-30 minute drive from Balti (the city in which we currently serve). Elder Volkov set up a time and date to meet with her around 10:30 in the morning. We met up with her and she was the sweetest lady ever, she immediately began to tell us how young and handsome we were. She then invited us to meet in a nearby cafe where we could discuss more about what we believe. She immediately began to tell her story and how for the longest time she had not believed in God and how in the Soviet Union times they were told that God didn’t exist. But she had a desire to know if God existed and so once every year (on the Orthodox new year) she would pray and ask God to show Himself to her. She then told us about the miracles that had occured in her life to show that God’s hand had really been in her life. She spoke about her daughter and how they thought that she had cancer. She had to have it checked three times and she said that she prayed harder than she ever had before. A few hours later she received the call that her daughter didn’t have cancer. She shed some tears throughout all of this and it was overall a very sweet moment with her. She then told us that she had been searching for God’s church ever since she knew that He was there. She loves the Bible and she wants to know which church is true. She searched for truth in many different churches and her son joined the Baptist church (she said she felt it was the closest to Christ’s church but she felt as if it still wasn’t right). She read a lot of information about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints online (good and bad) but ultimately decided that the people were sincere and she wanted to know more about us. Elder Volokov bore a powerful testimony of the Book of Mormon and read a few scriptures to her to answer some deeply desired questions that she’s had for a long time. She said that she wanted to read the Book of Mormon and that she will ask God whether or not it is true and that she wanted to meet with us again to answer more questions that she has. At the end, she even gave us a referral! She told us to contact her granddaughter who lives in Chisinau and tell her about the free English classes that we are doing there. Overall a very spiritual experience and a testament to us that the Lord’s work is being moved forward in ways we never thought before!
.We got a lot of potential here in Balti and I'm super stoked to be here! I love you all so much and I'm so grateful for you all.
